This traditional homemade mulled wine recipe is incredibly easy to make, and is perfect for cold winter nights with the friends.
30 min Cooking Time, Serves 4-6
1 bottle (750ml) red wine
1/4 cup fortified wine
2 orange, zested and juiced
1/2 tsp cloves
2 star anise
3 cinnamon sticks
1/3 cup maple syrup
Extra orange sliced to serve
Combine all ingredients in a large pot over medium heat. When the wine starts to steam, but not quite at a simmer, turn off the heat.
Taste for sweetness and add more maple syrup if desired.
Using a fine mesh strainer to remove spices. Serve warm and top with orange slices and cinnamon sticks
