Spiced Citrus Mulled Wine

This traditional homemade mulled wine recipe is incredibly easy to make, and is perfect for cold winter nights with the friends.




INGREDIENTS

30 min Cooking Time, Serves 4-6

  • 1 bottle (750ml) red wine

  • 1/4 cup fortified wine

  • 2 orange, zested and juiced

  • 1/2 tsp cloves

  • 2 star anise

  • 3 cinnamon sticks

  • 1/3 cup maple syrup

  • Extra orange sliced to serve



METHOD


  1. Combine all ingredients in a large pot over medium heat. When the wine starts to steam, but not quite at a simmer, turn off the heat.

  2. Taste for sweetness and add more maple syrup if desired.

  3. Using a fine mesh strainer to remove spices. Serve warm and top with orange slices and cinnamon sticks
